United Methodist Women is a faith-based membership organization of laywomen within The United Methodist Church. UMW members are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ in community with other women and advocating on behalf of women, children and youth around the world. United Methodist Women has been in mission for more than 140 years.

Monthly meetings and additional outings and mission opportunities are offered for women of all ages.

One of the mission projects the UMW at Collins sponsers is collecting cereal boxes for making jewelry in Haiti. The boxes are sent to: BFP International 8050 N.W. 74th Ave., Medley, Florida 33166. If you would like to donate boxes please bring them to the church. They will not accept any box smaller than a cake box. If you would like to make a cash donation to support the UMW”s project, please make the check out to the Collins UMC UMW.

Another ministry sponsored by the UMC is the Choices Clinic of Laurel, MS. Choices reaches out with compassion to meet the needs of mothers and children throughout our area. Many women feel overwhelmed when facing an unplanned pregnancy. But there are safe places in Mississippi for these women to consider their options.  At Choices, each woman is encouraged to develop a parenting plan.  Whether she chooses to parent her child or place her child in the loving arms of adoptive parents – non-profit centers help her make a decision both she and her unborn child can live with.
